From Our Herd

Fiber with a name behind it

Every fleece we sell comes off an animal you can see on our Breeding Stock page — same herd, same gray-heavy genetics that throws just about every color in between. Fleece is skirted to remove the coarser guard hair and second cuts before it's bagged and weighed.

Availability changes with each year's shearing. Message us with the color and quantity you're after and we'll let you know what's on hand.

Good To Know

How it's graded

Blanket

Prime fleece

The fiber off the animal's back and sides — the softest, most consistent part of the clip, and what most hand-spinners and mill customers want.

Seconds

Neck & legs

Slightly coarser and shorter fiber from the neck, lower legs, and belly. Still usable for spinning, felting, or blending.

Thirds

Coarser cuts

The roughest fiber, usually from the britch and lower legs. Best suited for felting, rugs, or dryer balls rather than next-to-skin yarn.
